How
the new Group Champions Competition will work
The
competition will be run on an annual basis January - December
each year.
The
aim of the competition is to recognise and reward dogs which
achieve Group 1-4 placings at general all breed championship
shows, and the principal national group shows (UK Toydog, National
Terrier, National Working & Pastoral Breeds, Hound Assoc.,
National Gundog Assoc., BUBA) throughout the season.
Points
will be awarded as follows:
First - 10 points; second - 6 points;third - 4 points and fourth
- 2 points.
The points table will be maintained by OUR DOGS and published
throughout the year in
OUR DOGS and on its website in association with Purina ProPlan.
Our
intention is to identify the best sevengroup winning dogs shown
in the UK based on consistency. We will then declare an overall
Top Dog and Reserve Top Dog based on
whichever dog has the highest number of points.
In the event of a tie for final placings in the Top Seven (one
per group) at the end of each year the number of BIS wins (2
points) and reserve BIS wins (1 point) gained at general all
breed and the principal group championship shows will be taken
into account.
Any queries regarding the arrangement of points must be put
in writing to the Editor of
OUR DOGS whose decision will be final.
