New Chairman for National Working
AT THE conclusion of his last three-year term as a member of the elected committee, Mr Warwick Winston did not choose to stand for re-election, writes Ann Arch. With his 78th birthday on the horizon, he decided it was time to let someone else take the helm.
Elected to committee in 1970, under the Chairmanship of Larry Elsden, Warwick
was soon to prove his great ability in show management, taking on the position
of show manager for the first championship show in 1972. He became Chairman
in 1979. A presentation was made to Warwick a the end of the recent January
Open show in order that as many as possible could witness this tangible thank
you for 30 years service. At the AGMs conclusion (2001) Warwick
was given two framed photos of committee and with his Vice-Chairman Ann Podmore,
as mementoes.
At the resumed Committee meeting, following the AGM, Ann Podmore was unanimously
elected by her fellow Committee members as Chairman, with Andy Smallwood combining
the duties of Show Manager with Vice Chairman.
Two new members were welcomed on to the Committee to replace Warwick Winston,
and Graham Hicks who had been Chief Steward for a number of years. A presentation
was made to Graham prior to the AGM. Jim ODonnell (Briards and Pyrenean
Sheepdogs) and, Mick Taylor (Bearded Collies) can look forward to some hard
work in the future!
