KCJO
is to become the YKC!
The
Kennel Club is pleased to announce that as from Crufts 2002 next March,
the Kennel Club Junior Organisation (KCJO) will become the Young Kennel
Club (YKC). The primary reason for this change is due to the many developments
that have taken place in the world of dogs over the last five years and
the Kennel Club’s intention to keep up with these changes.
From
March, young members will continue to enjoy the many benefits on offer
to them at present and will be able to enjoy even more activities. The
new Club will profit from the knowledge and commitment of canine activity
co-ordinators who will organise activities and social events on a national
basis whilst being ably assisted by Kennel Club registered and listed
clubs.
It is envisaged that the opportunities for young people to compete and
develop in the world of dogs will be increased. The Kennel Club is only
too aware that the young canine enthusiasts of today will be the experts
of tomorrow.
Initiative
Said
Chairman of the YKC Eric Smethurst, “We are all very excited about the
new changes and launch of the YKC at Crufts. An important aim of the new
Club will be to be forward thinking and looking to protect the interests
of both the members and their dogs for the future. The Kennel Club is
taking this initiative and the benefits that these young people bring
to the world of dogs very seriously. However, it is also the YKC’s intention
to ensure that the members have a thoroughly enjoyable and fun time, whilst
learning much more about the world of dogs!”
More
information about the YKC will become available in the New Year. If members
have any questions about their new Club, please telephone or e-mail the
YKC Office on 020 7518 1030,
kcjo@the-kennel-club.org.uk after 2 January 2002.
