Saluki enthusiast jumps from plane for Welfare!
Ian Veal, well known judge and exhibitor of Salukis, will jump from a plane
at 12,000ft on April 14th to raise money for his favourite charities. Travelling
to the Lake District, Ians memorable parachute jump is due to take place
the day before his birthday!
Having said many times that he would like to jump from a plane, Ians partner
Brendan called his bluff and bought him the jump as a Christmas present. Ian
then decided to make more of the experience by taking sponsors to raise money
for Saluki Welfare and one of Diana Princess of Wales favourite charities the
Terrence Higgins Trust/Lighthouse Aids charity.
When working as a cinema Manager in the West End, Ian met Diana at a premier showing of Wall Street, and has always admired her charitable work with Aids charities.
Ian has kept, shown and judged Salukis since 1966 giving CCs since 1996.
He says, I really love the breed. They are intelligent home-loving dogs
who really keep their owners fit. Salukis are easy to groom, gentle, loyal and
I find that they never smell doggy! Ian is a committee member
of the Saluki Welfare Fund registered charity and is regularly involved with
re-homing.
When he jumps from the plane, Ian will free fall for four minutes and the whole
experience will be recorded on video for prosperity!
