MANCHESTER DOGS Home has received planning approval from Manchester City
Council to go ahead with the building of a new Animal Hospital this year.
The desperately-needed Animal Hospital will accommodate up to 80 dogs in the
Home undergoing treatment for various ailments and injuries. Also, it will mean
that sick dogs can be isolated from the healthy dogs and so prevent the spread
of infection. It is also hoped that sick dogs will recover faster in the relative
peace and quiet of the Hospital.
Dogs are accommodated in the Home for an average of one month before they are
re-homed, some older dogs have been resident for much longer. Because of the
longer stay period, the Home also plans to build additional kennels at its Grappenhall
site if any surplus monies are left over from the Animal Hospital appeal.
The cost of the Animal Hospital and the additional kennels will be in the region
of £750,000 and the Home is looking for public/company donations for these
projects.
They have many dogs in the Home at present. If you can give a dog the loving
home it deserves, please visit our kennels from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Mondays
to Saturdays and from 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on Sundays.
