Whats in a name?
At
its meeting on 20 February 2001, the KC General Committee gave further consideration
to the registration of Canadian Eskimo Dogs as a distinct breed from Greenland
Dogs. It was agreed that Canadian Eskimo Dogs would be included on the Breed
Register in the Working Group with immediate effect.
Therefore, imported dogs from Canada may now be registered as Canadian Eskimo
Dogs, as well as those of Canadian origin which were recently registered as
Greenland Dogs.
At the same meeting, the Committee approved a change to the nomenclature of
the Japanese Akita, and it has been agreed that the breed is to be known as
the Akita. This will be effective from 1 July 2001.
Annex A to B Regulations should be amended accordingly
as from the dates given.
