British
Library goes to the dogs!
IN AN effort to raise money for the ‘Blue Cross’ animal charity, the
British Library’s Document Supply Centre at Boston Spa, Yorkshire has
launched a 2002 dog calendar with a difference featuring the library staff’s
own dogs.
The
full-colour calendar features a page for each month and there is also
space for each day of the month to note down those important dates such
as your dog’s birthday and vet appointments.
The calendar follows on from the success of the library’s 2001 cat calendar
that sold as far afield as the USA, and a new version of this is also
available. All profits from the sale of the dog calendar will be going
to ‘The Blue Cross’ animal charity, which provides care for abandoned
animals and veterinary services for pet owners on low incomes.

Celia
Lee, a Library security officer, and Doreen Bonas, Manager of the Library’s
Printing unit, the driving forces behind the calendar said, “All photos
in the 2002 dog calendar were sent in by members of staff at the Library’s
Boston Spa Site. I hope we can repeat and improve upon last years calendar
sales, and raise a lot of money for this very worthwhile charity”.
The
calendar costs just £3 plus 50p postage and is available to buy from Doreen
Bonas or AnnPreston, The British Library, Boston Spa, Wetherby, West Yorkshire
LS23 7BQ, cheques made payable to ‘The British Library”.
