THE 2002 Crufts schedule, due out later this month, will feature a painting of two SmoothHaired Dachshunds by Scottish born artist Marion Roger Hamilton Harvey (b.1886).

Harvey worked mainly in pastels and crayons and this study is typical.

The dogs were owned by Veronica Collins who was chairman of the Dachshund Club of Scotland for 50 years and served on the Scottish Kennel Club Executive for 25 years.

The dogs are Ch Firs Redline and his daughter Ch Red Letter of Kelvindale. Redline was sired by one of Mrs Huggins’ great winners, Ch Firs Back Velvet, and on both sides he went back to another great dog and sire in the breed, Mme. P. P. Rikovsky’s German import, Int Ch Wolf vom Birkenschloss.
