FOLLOWING
THE front page story in last week’s issue, OUR DOGS has been contacted
by Welsh Terrier breeder Jennifer Williams of Bamber Bridge, Lancashire,
who wishes to point out some inaccurate statements in the report.
Ms Williams did not appear in open court, contrary to the impression given
in the initial report. The matter was dealt with as part of a pre-trial
review, involving the prosecution, defence and a District Judge.
The
judge accepted Ms Williams’ plea of guilty to the charge of “Not giving
due care and attention to seven animals” contrary to the 1911 Protection
of Animals Act.
OUR
DOGS is happy to clear any confusion which may have been caused as a result
of the original report given, which indicated a more severe charge.
