REGISTRATION
OF PUPPIES AND
THE BREEDING AND SALE OF DOGS
(WELFARE) ACT 1999
The
Kennel Club has succeeded in obtaining further guidance from the Home
Office regarding the registration of more than one litter of puppies from
the same bitch within a 12 month period. Being aware of the difficulties
experienced by some licensed breeders with regard to fulfilling this requirement
of the Act, the KC is now in a position to allow some flexibility regarding
certain minor infringements arising from factors beyond a breeder's control.
In the case of licensed breeders, in future, if a bitch would have been
outside the twelve month period had she gone full term, but whelps prematurely,
The Kennel Club will consider applications for Registration of the resulting
puppies. Unfortunately this flexibility cannot apply to bitches which
are mated early, and go to full term.
