The
Golden Bone Awards and Ball
Radisson Hotel, Manchester Airport, Saturday
9th February 2002
Bookmark
your diary for The Golden Bone Awards on 9th February next year, the weekend
of the Manchester Dog Show. The Awards have already established themselves
as the 'Oscars' of the world of dogs and there is no doubt that it will,
once again, be a fabulous evening.
The
Awards are an opportunity not only to present major awards to the various
high profile competitions that are a feature of the world of dogs, but
also to recognise the contribution of both people and dogs at work, at
home and in the community. The awards include the Working Dog of the Year,
the Support Dog of the year, the Company of the Year and Charity of the
Year. There are also awards for services to dogs and Personalities of
the Year - both canine and human - who have done most to promote dog ownership.
There will also be a Golden Bone for the Open Show that did most to promote
itself locally in 2000. Nominations forms will be appearing in the canine
weekly and monthly press very shortly.

Last
year's personality of the year, Liz Cartledge, receiving her Golden Bone
Award
from Angela Cavill at the International Juniors dinner at Crufts earlier
this year.
Liz was nominated for the award for her support of junior activities in
general and the
phenomenal and continuing success of The Junior Handlers Association in
particular.
This
fund raising event under the auspices of the Pet Role Trust is organised
by Susie Mathis, twice winner of the prestigious Sony Radio Personality
of the Year Award. The monies raised will be distributed through the Pet
Role Trust, a registered charitable trust, to canine good causes.
TV
personality Kevin Horkin will be the host of what we know will be another
truly memorable evening and many stars of stage and screen have already
indicated that they will attend.
