Could
you make a wish come true?
Would you like to take part in an event that is going to take
place on the 29th September, 2002? Have you ever heard of an
organisation called Make-A-Wish Foundation? They have one simple
aim - to grant the wishes of children aged 3-18 suffering from
life-threatening illnesses.
A wish granted is true magic for the child and provides happy
memories for all the family and respite from their normal routines
of hospitals, doctors and treatment. Regardless of the nature,
cost or complexity of a wish they are fully committed to providing
the maximum level of care and enjoyment for the children and
their families. The Academy of Dog Training & Behaviour,
are staging a two minute Sponsored Stay event on the 29th September,
2002.
The object of the event is two-fold. 1. To try to raise an enormous
amount of money for the foundation. 2.To highlight the good
that can be achieved through responsible dog ownership. The
challenge has been logged with the GUINESS BOOK OF RECORDS as
a record breaking attempt, and details will be published on
their website soon. Every person who takes part in the event
will receive a certificate from the Make a Wish Foundation So
what can you do to help? Apply to our Head Office for sponsorship
packs. The packs include a brochure about the foundation, advertising
posters, plus as many sponsor forms as you request.
Then you go off and recruit as many people as you can to take
part in the event, which can take place in any place of your
choice, provided someone is there to verify the number of dogs
that have attempted and succeeded in the challenge. Place a
poster in Vets surgeries, pet shops etc and ask all your dog
club members to join in. As there are shows booked for the 29th
Sept, would show secretaries be prepared to put a sponsorship
form in with their schedules? and perhaps locate a spot on the
showground where people could do their stay?
Could you help us to raise more funds by finding companies who
may be willing to sponsor the event? All companies who give
sponsorship will be listed on the ADTB website after the event.
