Oscar will be starring at Lytham St Annes YMCA on Sunday 28th April in the fund raising day for Blackpool RSPCA and again at Whitehaven on Sunday May 5th for Whitehaven RSPCA.

Who is Oscar?

You could have seen him at Crufts, or on the Big Breakfast with Richard Bacon or with John Noakes or Esther Rantzen on their shows, you may even have seen guest appearances on Hollyoaks. He has been seen driving his car on Granada Reports in the past. He has been featured on German, Spanish, Canadian and American television and played his piano on Radio Merseyside, Radio Five, British Forces Network Radio and Continental Radio. Articles about him have appeared in most national papers and numerous magazines as diverse as Lancashire Life and FHM. Despite being a scruffy mongrel he has twice appeared at Crufts.

Towards the end of the year 2000 Oscar developed problems with his back and it looked as though his days of public displays were over, but the trouble was traced to a cyst, which had grown deep into his back muscles. His regular vet operated on him and the cyst was found to be benign. Oscar amazed everybody by wanting to bounce round like a puppy on the same day as the operation. He worked hard to build himself up last year and is now busy learning new tricks again. He has even included a working four-inch canon in his act. Not bad for a ten year old who started life as an unwanted and sickly puppy.

Oscar will be accompanied by his two young adopted sisters, Penny, a beautiful smooth haired blonde, and Cleo a cute, shaggy golden dog. Like Oscar they are both rescued mongrels, of course !

If it was not for shelters like the one at Blackpool there would be no future for unwanted dogs, especially mongrels like Oscar, Penny and Cleo, the English Mongrels.
