National invitation attracts over 1500 entries
- Crufts ‘03 qualification from USA possible!


THE AMERICAN Kennel Club and The Iams Company have announced that 1564 dogs - including 80 Junior Showmanship entries - have entered the 2002 AKC/Eukanuba National Invitational Championship to be held in Florida on December 11th.

Invitations were extended to the 25 top-ranked dogs in every AKC recognised breed and variety, and every best in show winner for the period January 1st 2002 to October 7th 2002.

A total of $225,000 in cash prizes will be awarded at the championship with the Best in show winner walking away with $50,000 and the prestigious National Invitational Champion title and the best in show breeder receiving $25,000.

The show will taped by cable tv’s Animal Planet network for broadcast on Super Bowl Saturday, January 25th 2003.

Travelling to the show will be Kennel Club chairman Mr Ronnie Irving, Chief Executive Mrs rosemary Smart and Kennel Club Secretary Mrs Caroline Kisko.

It is expected that there will be informal discussions with the American Kennel Club on the principles of qualifications to Crufts 2003 and 2004.
