Last year the show attracted its third largest ever entry of 23,229 from 21,554 dogs. This compared with 23,366 and 21,643 in 2000. In 1999 a grand total of 21,503 made an entry of 23,336.

The largest ever event was in 1991 for the centenary show when 22,883 dogs made an impressive entry of 25227.

The year 2000 increase to the second largest ever show represented a small rise on 1999 with 140 more dogs and just 30 more entries.

The Obedience Bitch Championship has 25 entries whilst the Obedience Dog Championship has 22.
Crufts office has also confirmed that best in show will not be judged until 9pm as the last two years.

Top entries group by group include Rottweilers, Border Collies, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Whippets, Cavaliers, Shih Tzus and Labradors.
