Photo by W Moores OUR DOGS - OUR DOGS’ Schnauzer breed correspondent Peter Newman was presented with the Tom Horner Award of Excellence at last week’s Friskies/Dog World 2001 Pup of the Year Final. Peter is well known for his Risepark Miniature Schnauzers but his first POTY finalist was a Sealyham in 1975! All in all Peter has qualified six of his dogs for the final, the other five all being Miniature Schnauzers. This year’s qualifier was Hideki Who’s That Guy with Risepark, co-owned with Melanie Spavin who is also his main handler. He has already won a CC & BOB and is by the latest of Peter’s American imports, Ch Awesomes In The Mood with Risepark, who has proved to be a very successful stud dog.

One of Peter’s earlier POTY qualifiers, Ch Sonshea Call Me Mister Risepark, went on to win Best in show at WKC and Reserve Best in show at Bath Championship Show. He also qualified for both the Pedigree Special Champions and Veteran Stakes finals, thus qualifying for three of the national finals, a rare and impressive achievement. We wonder if Who’s That Guy can follow in his footsteps ... watch this space! Well done to Peter and his extremely successful Risepark Miniature Schnauzers.
