All Breed Open Show

The management committee of Belfast Dog Show Society has decided to expand the scope of the society beyond running the annual Championship show and will be hosting an All Breed Open Show on Saturday, March 1st, 2003 at the RUAS, Balmoral, Belfast, the same venue where Belfast Championship Show takes place.

It is hoped to make this an ‘exhibitor friendly’ event and so far some major sponsorship has been acquired and excellent prize money will be on offer for the top winners. It is also hoped to have breed sponsorship to further encourage entries under judges who are either new faces to Northern Ireland, local ‘progressing judges and also for breed supported classes.

The Secretary, Mr Jackie Stubbs, will be happy to hear from people or clubs interested in becoming involved with the show at sponsorship level and can be contacted on 028-9022 9127.

Seminars

As a further development of the society’s role in dogs in Northern Ireland and its services to its members, a sub committee has been set up by the management committee, tasked with planning a series of seminars to encourage and help aspiring championship show judges in the province to advance onto judging lists with the criteria laid down by the Kennel Club.

The first of these seminars will take place on Sunday, 21st July 2002 at Lisburn Rugby Club, Eglantine Road, Lisburn, Co Antrim with Conformation and Movement & Stewarding as the topics. The services of Mrs Christina Chapman, KC Accredited Trainer, have been acquired for the day which will run from 9.30.a.m. until approximately 4.30.p.m. Cost, including morning and afternoon tea or coffee and a finger buffet lunch, will be £10 for non members and £9. for members.

There will be no charge for Junior Members of the Society or YKC Members. Booking forms are available from either the Secretary, Jackie Stubbs at the above number or Mrs Alexa Brown on 028.9756 2716.
