Obituary
Miss V Drummond-Dick dies

WE ARE sorry to record the death, on Saturday July 13th of Miss Violet Drummond-Dick of the Abraxas Bull Terriers.

She will be best remembered as the owner of the 1972 Crufts best in show winning Bull Terrier Ch Abraxas Audacity, which amused the crowds by stopping and shaking in a cloud of white chalk as he went down the red carpet before the judge Mr Arthur Westlake!

Above OUR DOGS correspondent - the late Stanley Dangerfield - who used to present the BBC TV programme, interviews Miss Drummond-Dick. Note the best in show trophy at the time was the Daytona Cup (now withdrawn from circulation) presented to the Kennel Club in 1951 by Lady Dorothea Campbell, and not the well known Keddell Memorial Trophy which between 1968 and 1973 was demoted to reserve best terrier.
