Three
Counties to use Malverns permanent halls
The
Three Counties Championship Show, taking place at the Three
Counties Showground, Malvern from 10-13 June 2002, will be
staged in exhibition halls, instead of marquees for the second
year running.
Show organisers, the Three Counties Agricultural Society had
hoped to return the event to its traditional location this
year, but its decision not to stage livestock competitions
at the parallel Three Counties Countryside Show, leaves Wye
and Avon Halls empty, and the move is based on a cost-saving
exercise.
Said Showground General Manager, Tony Halls: The carefully
considered decision to cancel livestock competitions at this
years agricultural show was made following DEFRAs
proposed rulings issued on 8 February 2002.
As a registered charity, we are obliged to control costs
and in light of the fact that the aftermath of the foot and
mouth crisis is still with us, cancelling tentage and moving
the Dog Show into the halls, means we can reduce our financial
outlay quite significantly.
Wye and Avon Halls are used for other National Working
and Pastoral Breeds and accommodation, indoor and outdoor
show rings and benching will meet all criteria laid down by
the Kennel Club.
We have also allowed adequate space for trade stands,
disabled, public and exhibitors parking, exercise areas
and catering facilities.
