
Despite
the dominance of the Jamthund amongst the hunting spitz breeds
in Group 5, the very similar East Siberian Laika still finds
a place with Swedish hunters and in 2001 (165) almost doubled
its registrations in the previous year - 85. In its own country
it is regarded as indispensable in hunting sable and bear.
