third best performance at Stamford
FOR
THE fourth year running, Bill Ironside’s American Cocker
Combleywood Parti Piece at Belcrum won the Advanced Test at
the annual Show Spaniels Field Day, and for the third year,
she also took the award of Best Performance of the Day. She
had also won BPD in 1999 and 2001.
Julie Revill gained a fifth ‘qualifier’ with Julita
Rustic Ramble, all in direct line of descent. This was the first
year of the newly worded ‘Show Gundog Working Certificate’
(SWGWC) and spaniels had to prove they hunted, faced cover,
produced game and retrieved generally to the satisfaction of
the two judges.
Testing was on freshly shot, unhandled game and ducks, and a
water test was also compulsory.
The event, run by the Midland english Springer society, has
been held at the Banholm Estate in Stamford, Lincolnshire, since
1980 by kind permission of land owner, Martin Trollope-Bellew.
