Technology test goes from the ring to the net!

AT MIDLAND counties show last weekend Canine Information Directory tested at new system of results provision in which exhibitors’ ring cards were bar coded and scanned by the ring stewards as they entered the ring.

The winning line-up was then re-scanned and the results sent by wireless technology to a transmitter situated in the hall. This in turn uploaded the results directly to the internet class by class as the judging progressed.

A total of nine breeds were included in the test which would need considerable investment in the future if it was to be adopted by shows as a means of posting results on the net, said Mike Robins of CID. The scanners could also use the lastest mobile phone technology if required.

The test site, www.ecisonline.org included all the nine breeds results listed in one to five order, those not placed and all absentees.
