Labradors
set to celebrate in style
THE
LABRADOR Retriever Club is planning a special celebration weekend
to commemorate 100 years of Kennel club breed recognition on
June 7th and 8th 2003.
The event will held at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham, Lincolnshire
the home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. Easily accessible
and central to the country, the castle is signposted from all
directions by brown heritage signs including from the A1.
The activities start on the Saturday with an Open Show, with
Mrs Marjorie Satterthwaite (Lawnwoods) judging dogs and Mrs
Eeva Rautala from Finland (Wetten) judging bitches.
On the same day there will be an Inter-Labrador Breed Club Working
Test. Teams from all the breed clubs will be invited to compete.
There will also be a special display ring with various organisations
showing the different jobs labradors do.
Over the weekend there will be a discussion on Is the
Breed Standard Relevant to Todays Labrador, with
Mrs Janice Pritchard and Mrs Sandra Halstead speaking to the
subject.
there will also be a Parade of Champions, Celebration Hog Roast,
Gundog Scurry and a Novice Working Test
Sunday, June 8th will see a club championship show with judges
Mr Guy Spagnolo from Australia (Dogs), and Mrs Marilyn Prior
(Priorise) judging bitches. the second day will also see the
finals of the Inter-Labrador Breed Club Working Test, the Gundog
Scurry and presentations to the winners.
There will also be a Grand Draw with good prizes and tickets
will be available at the end of November at a cost of £1
per ticket.
