South Wales Open Show Dog of the Year 2002
- The
judges reports
I WOULD like to thank the officials and committee for the invitation
to judge at this most prestigious event held at the luxurious
Best Western Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran, South Wales.
Along with my co-judge, Bill Browne-Cole, we were presented with
some top quality dogs.
We were left with three dogs from which to decide the winner:-
the Whippet, Ch Janelyn Silvatec Sixpence, owned by Mr M Saunders,
very nice bitch of great quality, correct size, good head and
eye, good front, could have had more drive and extension in the
final run off.
The Norwich Terrier, Ch Glenhafod Arizona, owned by Mr & Mrs
Mason, very smart dog, of good size, good head and expression,
correct coat, moved very smartly, runner up to the Shih Tzu. The
Shih Tzu, Ch Daltricia Menelaus JW, owned by Mrs P Maule, gold
and white dog of good type and balance, very good head and expression,
correct nose placement, strong coat which was excellently presented,
moved with great freedom and drive which won him the day.

THE RUNNING of this event under the auspices of the South Wales
Kennel Association and the quality of the dogs and the venue was
first class.
From some top quality dogs, Roy Metcalfe and myself were left
with tree exhibits. Best of match, the Shih Tzu Maules Ch
Daltricia Menelaus JW, fabulous make and shape, loved his head,
gorgeous well placed eyes, couldnt stand wrong. In excellent
coat and condition, moved so well both ways, showed superbly.
Res was Masons Ch Glenhafod Arizona, Ive had the pleasure
of judging this Norwich Terrier dog before, lovely head and expression
with a correct bite. Short level back with good spring of rib,
moved true both ways, a real showman. Third, Sanders Ch
Janelyn Silvatec Sixpence, Ch Whippet, another I have had the
pleasure of judging before, oozes quality.
