Six branch co-ordinators of the Retired Greyhound Trust have
received a prestigious award - the Services to Retired Greyhounds
Award. Peter Bussey (Friends of Crayford Retired Greyhounds),
Don Ferguson (Edinburgh Retired Greyhound Trust), Liz Redpath
(Portsmouth Retired Greyhound Trust), Tony Lunn (Sheffield
Retired Greyhound Trust), Johanna Beumer (Walthamstow Homefinding
Scheme) and Pat Bannister (Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare) all
help to co-ordinate the work of regional branches of the charity
which finds homes for ex-racing greyhounds.
The awards were presented by industry body the British Greyhound
Racing Board at a ceremony last month at the Hilton Brighton
Metropole. The accolade is given annually to those who have
gone the extra mile to promote the welfare of greyhounds.
"It gives me great pleasure to reward these six branch
co-ordinators for the remarkable work they are doing for the
welfare of ex-racing greyhounds. At the Trust we are indebted
to our branches across the country and these awards recognise
just some of the excellent activity taking place," comments
Ivor Stocker, Director of the Retired Greyhound Trust.
