Contest
of Champion Show Dogs
The
arrangements for the 2003 Contest of Champion Show Dogs are
well underway. This years event will take place at the
Thistle Hotel, London Heathrow, on Saturday 5th April.
The hotel has one of the largest banqueting rooms in the country.
This allows 350 spectators to remain seated at their tables
and watch the contest in a ring larger than some provided at
Championship Shows.
This unique competition invites the top dogs in every breed
(UK) to compete against each other head-to-head on a knock-out
basis. The match is limited to 64 dogs, so the stampede to fill
the 64 places has already commenced. The three judges, whose
identities are not revealed until the evening, are all from
overseas and do not normally judge on the UK circuit. This will
be the first year when dogs registered overseas will be competing.
The event is organised by the Canine Supporters Charity whose
prime objective is to raise money. Unlike some charities, there
are no paid staff and no administration costs. Every penny raised
is donated to canine charities. The 2002 event raised £15,000.
The programme starts with a reception at 4pm, dinner at 5pm
and the contest begins at 7pm. The evening is brought to a conclusion
by dancing until the early hours. During the evening there are
plenty of opportunities for you to be relieved of your money
in aid of charity: a sweepstake on the contest result, the huge
tombola, and an auction of various goods and memorabilia conducted
by the Charity's President, Peter Purves.
So, if you are looking for a dog show combined with a good evenings
entertainment, look no further. Come and support your breed.
Why not make a table? Tickets are priced at £35 per person.
Special hotel room rates have been negotiated. Tickets and further
information are available from: Hon Sec, Karina Le Mare, Wey
Farm, Guildford Road, Ottershaw, Surrey KT16 0QW. Tel: 01932

Remember
- The dogs that compete are the top dogs in their breed.
No other show can boast that!!
