Dogs can battle the bulge, too!

Svelte and slim – Pepper and Tiger beat weight watchers from all over the country recently, and were awarded the national title of ‘Hill’s Pet Slimmers of the Year’! These are two dieters with a difference – weight watchers with four legs not two.

With a staggering 50% of cats and dogs in the UK considered obese, there are 7 million chubby cats and dogs across the country! To help raise awareness of pet obesity, Hill’s* Pet Nutrition launched the Pet Slimmer of the Year Competition to reward heavy hounds and flabby felines that manage to lose plenty of pounds.

Top cat Tiger from Southampton and dishy dog Pepper from Burton-in-Lonsdale, beat cats and dogs from all over their region to enter for the national title of Hill’s Pet Slimmer of the Year 2002 which was judged this year by celebrity vet, Emma Milne (Vets in Practice). Each lucky ‘slimmer winner’ attended a swanky lunch on Friday 13th December at the Conrad Hotel in London’s Chelsea Harbour in order to be presented their prize by the lovely Shauna Lowry.

Pepper lost an amazing 41% of his overall bodyweight and Tiger lost 33% of his bodyweight!
To reward both pets on their outstanding achievement, both win a year’s supply of pet food and £500 worth of pet activities or accessories and their owners win £2,000 worth of holiday vouchers.

Do you have a portly pet that you would like to consider entering into the 2003 Hills’ Pet Slimmer of the Year Competition? Please contact your local veterinary practice, or call Hill’s Pet Nutrition on 0800 282438.
