Works
by Sir Edwin Landseer, RA (1802-1873) rarely come on to the
market and when they do, they usually attract substantial
prices at auction. However just occasionally a modest item
will turn up and Cheffin's, the Cambridge based auction house,
sold just such an item at their sale on Thursday January 16th.
This fine drawing of a "Scottish Deerhound" in pencil
and charcoal, heightened in white measured just six and three
quarter inches by nine and a half inches (17 x 24cm) but still
managed to sell for a hammer price of £2,300
