Nearly
£300 raised for local retired Greyhound trust
A
'Pats and Chats' session held by Portsmouth Retired Greyhound
Trust at the Port Solent, North Harbour Tesco has raised £291
for the charity.
The two-day session aimed at raising awareness of and funds
for ex-racing greyhounds attracted streams of people who were
able to speak to owners of greyhounds and meet first hand some
of the greyhounds currently in need of new homes.
Sue Shearer of Portsmouth Retired Greyhound Trust commented:
"Many individuals and families took the time to find out
about the urgent need to find homes for greyhounds and we would
like to thank them for their support.
There has been a positive response in terms of the number of
potential owners who have come forward.
"Contrary to popular misconceptions, greyhounds make excellent
pets and after a couple of weeks settling in and getting to
know their new owners will soon feel part of the family."
The funds raised will help to finance the welfare and upkeep
costs of greyhounds kept in kennels whilst homes are being found.
