Changes
at the Hound Association of Scotland
With
more than half a century of service between them, Chairman Dr
Arthur Sneedon and Secretary Gus MacDonald have retired as officers
of the Association. Both are founder members with Arthur having
served as chairman since the Clubs inception way back
in 1974. Gus has carried out the Secretarys role for 26
years with 70 shows to his credit including the recent championship
show this year held at Springwood Park in Kelso. Gus role
was crucial in organising this major event at very short notice
and by all accounts, very successfully.
Having intimated their intentions at the Annual General Meeting
earlier this year, both Arthur and Gus stepped down at a recent
committee meeting. The Committee have co-opted Mrs Anne Macdonald
as Chairperson and Drew Littlejohn as Secretary (pictured),
both of whom intend to stand for their respective positions
at the next Annual General Meeting.
Anne herself, also a founder member of the Hound Association
has served on the committee for many years, initially as a committee
member and then Treasurer for eighteen years. Much has been
written recently about Anne following her success with her young
dog Jason and the committee welcome her in her new
role as Chairperson.
Drew has had a lifetime in dogs having been brought up within
a very well known Sheltie Kennel. However, he has
made his name in Norwegian Elkhounds and Finnish Spitz having
bred champions in both breeds. Over the years he has served
on various committees and breed clubs and can be seen stewarding
most weekends! He looks forward to his new challenge. Although
already well known, he looks forward to meeting members and
friends at the Limited Show in Alva on Sunday 6th July.
