Simon Luxmoore, President of Messier-Dowty UK Ltd and specialist in Siberian Huskies, has been honoured by his old school Millfield in Somerset which he attended from 1966-1969. He is one of three of the schools distinguished former pupils to be named Old Millfieldian of the Year.
Named in the wards citation as a "quintessential Millfield All-Rounder" mention is made of his election as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, his book on Siberian huskies, his fine sports record in rugby, cricket and badminton. Simon has written extensively on Siberian huskies, and works and shows the breed, and has judged sled dogs at Crufts and in various countries abroad.
Millfield School was founded in 1935. It now has more than 1,250 students in the senior school. With about 950 boarders it is the largest co-educational boarding school in the country. Together with its junior school, Millfield Preparatory School, it has a total of 1,800 pupils.
This years awards will be presented by Millfield Headmaster Peter Johnson at the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel, London, on Saturday October 11th, starting at 11.30am.
