Top show mastiff spreads the responsible word

Levi meeting the children at Willoughton Primary School

A CRUFTS winning Neapolitan Mastiff has been spreading the word about responsible dog ownership amongst local primary school children – and has become something of a mascot in the process!

Annette Mappin works as part of the Pest and Dog Control team for a Council in Lincolnshire and part of her role is to give school talks about responsible dog ownership. Annette was delighted recently when Nigel Brookes, Chairman of Scunthorpe Canine Association offered to accompany her to Willoughton Primary School, near Gainsborough with his Neapolitan Mastiff, Levi.

Levi is better known in the show world as Grimoire Firecracker of Janineo, the top winning Neapolitan in the U.K. to date, having won BOB at Crufts three times, as well as a Green Star and CACIB in Ireland.

Annette told OUR DOGS: "This dog is a gentle giant and a credit to his breed. He has been on Discover Dogs at Crufts but this was his first visit to a school and he took it all in his stride. The children adored him and all gave him a cuddle and a fuss as the photos I took show.

The feedback from the Headmaster, Mr Beresford, is that the children are still talking about our visit and that we are welcome to return at anytime. Many thanks to Nigel and extra special thanks to Levi for being such a star!"
