Forest of Dean Easter dog show

ON EASTER Sunday, 11th April, there will be a companion dog show held at the field beside the Speech House, in the Royal Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The Speech House Hotel is situated about half way between Coleford and Cinderford on the B4226, and is well signposted around the area.

The show is all dogs and their owners and you don’t need to know anything about dog shows to come along and enjoy a day in the forest!

It promises to be a great day out for all the family with trade stands, refreshments, birds of prey and even a bouncy castle to keep the children amused.

There will be classes for pedigree dogs starting at 11am with entries taken from 10am. The fun classes are expected to start at around lunchtime, depending on how many people are in attendance.

There are also classes to test handling ability and lots of fun classes such as Dog with the Waggiest Tail, Most Handsome Dog and Prettiest Bitch etc. The entry fee is only £1 per dog class so the more classes you enter, the more money goes to the charity. Car parking is free.

The show is being sponsored by Berties Complete Canine and Feline Diets, and there will be trophies, special prizes and lots of rosettes for all the winners. Many local companies are supporting the show by donating terrific prizes for the raffle. And every pound made on the day will be donated to the nominated charity – Great Oaks, Dean Forest Hospice. This is a very worthwhile local charity, who are currently raising funds to build the new hospice which will benefit many local people.

The show is being organised by Peter and Margaret Kidby, who have only recently moved to the area. Over the last few years, they have organised many successful dog shows and raised thousands of pounds for a variety of good causes such as Childline, The Variety Club of GB (Sunshine Coaches) and Pets as Therapy. Should you have any queries, Peter and Margaret can be contacted on 01594 833093. So, please come along on the day to help raise valuable funds for the charity and to enjoy a great day out.
