Pet Adoptathon 10 years old in May

Pet Adoptathon, the world’s largest rehoming weekend, will be particularly important this year, as 1st and 2nd May 2004 marks its 10th anniversary. Since 1995 Pet Adoptathon has raised awareness and saved over 155,000 lives around the world.

We could not have reached this milestone without the dedication of the growing number of organisations that participate in this annual event. Each year we set our sights higher and higher and each year we’ve accomplished more and more. In 2003 Pet Adoptathon participants in 25 countries around the world and in 50 States in America rehomed over 30,000 animals.

This year North Shore Animal League International is asking every shelter in the UK & Ireland to open over the 1st and 2nd May 2004 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Pet Adoptathon and more importantly, what it stands for:

‘Saving Animals Lives, through rehoming’

Our free rehoming website www.petfresh.org will be displaying a list of shelters around the UK & Ireland, plus photo galleries of animals available for rehoming. Those who do not have access to the internet, can call us on 01206 274058 for the telephone number of their nearest shelter.

Pet Adoptathon aims to raise the profile of shelters with in their local communities, thus helping them to increase their rehoming rate, fundraise, gain volunteers and educate.
