Deaths mar World Show in Brazil

Rocketing temperatures from around 27oc at 7am to 40oc by midday, together with high humidity, proved too much for at least 11 dogs unused to such conditions in Rio de Janiero last weekend

There were eight confirmed dead early on the opening day of the show, and at least a further three on subsequent days. These tragedies cast a huge shadow over the entire event.

It is reported that the show was also beset by complaints from owners and handlers about general safety aspects and lack of proper air conditioning in the halls. Unsurprisingly, though the organisers tried hard to run a happy and memorable event, the atmosphere of the show was adversely affected.

A full report will follow in a future issue of OUR DOGS. (World Shows)
