Why not try a family day out with your dog at a Living Heritage Country Show?
Living Heritage is organising no fewer than eight major Country Shows in 2004, which started at Easter and are going right through to mid October. They will be held in glorious surroundings at prestigious venues including Knebworth, Broadlands and Sandringham.
Attractions will include Falconry, Mounted Games, Craft Village, Gardeners’ Road show, Classic Vehicles, Children’s puppet shows and much much more!
Man’s best friend has certainly not been forgotten. Living Heritage Country Shows are dog friendly and there is a special Theme Park just for canines called The DogsZone. Here you will find everything you need to get that tail wagging. At its heart is the large Companion Dog Show held by kind permission of the Kennel Club and in aid of charities such as Greyhounds in Need and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. These charities will be on hand to let you know all about the great work they do. The Dog Show features four pedigree and sixteen novelty classes on each day, and there is a large marquee available for stands, cages and for use in the advent of inclement weather. You know the old saying – ‘The show must go on!’
For those wanting a bit more dog action the DogsZone has fun scurries and tests. These are not just for gundogs – any dog irrespective of breed - and competence - can have a go!
Sally Hopkins, an internationally qualified behaviourist will be at some of the shows introducing you and your dog to doggames. She will be able to show you how to start and train your dog by using fun and games without stress.
How many really good photographs of your dog have you got? Nick Ridley, who has just launched his second book, is an award-winning photographer who specialises in animals. His professional portraits or action shots are of the highest quality and his high tech mobile studio will be on hand to let you choose and take a copy home of that special shot. If you want it printed or for any embroidery on a vast array of clothing visit Nell Design embroiderers to the British Armed Forces and Royal Palaces. You will find them at the Agility Arena, which they are sponsoring. We are the current World Agility Champions and Ian & Rosemary Stowers, fresh from their duties at Crufts, will be hosting the agility arena in the DogsZone.
Talking of Crufts did you see the Flyball? Exciting, yes, but fast - no! If you want to see the dogs really flying visit the British Flyball Association Tournaments hosted by the Barkshire Bandits. Flyball is a relay race for teams of four dogs and the DogsZone will see Flyball teams from far and wide competing over the year for the Country Challenge Cup. Don’t forget those ear defenders – the dogs are loud as well!
Living Heritage Country Shows will also feature a Lurcher and Terrier Show hosted by Thameside Racing Club. Held over the two days of the show, the first day will feature racing and trials and the second showing.
Last but by no means least Living Heritage are pleased to announce that Richard Curtis who is the current Advanced Freestyle Champion will be at most of the shows performing and doing workshops for Heelwork to Music. This latest dog discipline recently had exposure on prime time television, which has created a great deal of interest. Come and find out more from one of the most accomplished exponents who has toured Europe, North America and in 2004 Japan.
So if you are looking for a great day for all the family, why not try a Living Heritage Show.
With so much included in the typical entry price of £6.00 per adult and £3.00 per child you will not be disappointed. Oh and remember - don’t leave the dog at home!
