Dogs Trust Hope Project, a section of the charity set up to help dogs whose owners are homeless or in housing crisis, has launched its new website: www.dogstrusthopeproject.org.uk
Available on-line is a comprehensive list of dog friendly hostels, shelters and day centres across the UK. Homelessness organisations or anyone wanting to find out more information about where homeless people or those in housing crisis with dogs are welcome will find that this list is very useful.
The list was compiled from responses to a questionnaire that Dogs Trust Hope Project issued earlier this year to over 700 homelessness organisations across the U.K.
If you know of a dog friendly hostel, shelter or day centre for the homeless that can be added to the list, please contact Clare Kivlehan at Dogs Trust Hope Project on 020 7833 7671 or firstname.lastname@example.org
In 2002, research from Dogs Trust Hope Project revealed that a staggering 86% of housing providers in London denied access to homeless people with dogs. This research coincided with Dogs Trust producing the ‘Welcoming Dogs’ pack for housing providers, containing guidelines for accepting dogs as well as model dog policies and case studies.
