Crufts 2004: Record breaking overseas entries

From Austria to America and Germany to Japan, the Kennel Club can confirm that 644 dogs have entered Crufts 2004 from 22 different countries, ensuring that this year’s Crufts makes yet another all time overseas record entry and lives up to its name as the World’s largest dog show!

Crufts 2003 attracted a record 543 overseas dogs, however, Crufts 2004 has surpassed this entry by a further101 overseas dogs, all travelling to the UK to take part in the 101st Crufts Show. Crufts 2004 also sees 3 new countries enter the competition - Austria, Luxembourg and Hungary - all competing against the 21,622 total entry figure for the top accolade, ‘Best in Show’.

Said Caroline Kisko, Secretary to the Kennel Club; "We are delighted that so many dog owners from overseas are coming to Crufts to compete alongside our British dogs. We imagine that this figure will continue to increase each year, as the PETS Travel Scheme gathers momentum and overseas competitors make the journey to the UK to exhibit at the greatest dog show in the world!"
