ITALY
CLAIMED a clean sweep at the European Show in Barcelona which
took place on 3 - 6 June, writes Vince Hogan.
All three BIS winners from Italy were chosen by Spanish judge
Sergio Montesinos Vernetta. He awarded first place to the
Newfoundland Threepond Council Cup Bogart. Second place went
to the Yorkshire Terrier Qoccles Oliver Light Opaque
and finally third place was given to the Afghan Xenos Joselito.

The show took place in the Fira Barcelona in the busy centre
of the city. Out of nearly 8000 dogs the small British contingent
did well, especially those travelling with John Wright on
the Coaches to Shows trips.
The Kennel Club also had a successful three days answering
questions (mainly about Crufts) and distributing a range of
information material. OUR DOGS stand was a centre of activity
for all three days, both as a meeting point and as a source
of Annuals and issuees featuring our inrivalled European Section.
A full report on the winners and the show in general will
appear in a forthcoming issue.
For the diary, the European show will take place next year
in Austria (Tulln) followed by Helsinki, then Zagreb.
