Local RSPCA launches ‘Pup Idol’ competition

Three Bridlington RSPCA volunteers are launching a "Pup Idol" pets photograph competition will the full support of high profile TV personality Simon Cowell.

The fundraising idea is the brainchild of volunteers Sheila Jowett, Marlene Everingham and Win Nightingale and all proceeds will go to the RSPCA Bridlington & District Branch ‘Buy a Brick’ appeal, to provide an animal shelter in the region.

The competition is open to dogs of all ages as they are all pups at heart! Entries open on July 1st and each photo costs £2 to enter. The closing date for entries is 31st October, and winners will be advised by 30th November.

First prize is a framed water colour of the winning dog by artist Liz Sweet of Eden Fine Arts and signed by Simon Cowell, and nine runners up will receive their photographs in a mount and signed by Simon as ‘Pup Idol Runner up 2004’.

The competition will be judged by Clare Frisby of BBC Look North.

Cheques should be made payable to "Pup Idol" and sent to the RSPCA Charity Shop, 42, Quay Road, Bridlington,YO15 2AP. With the photo(s) should be a stamped addressed envelope for their return and the name of the dog, its owner’s name, address & telephone number on a sheet of paper.
