Puppy farm demonstrations against ferry company

ANTI-PUPPY farm organisation the Waterside Action Group (WAG) again will be holding a demonstration against P&O Ferries at Troon, Scotland over the transportation of puppies into the UK from Ireland. Meanwhile, through the support of fellow charity A Dog’s Life other ports in England & Wales will be targeted on Bank Holiday Monday 31 May 2004.

Secretary Ken McKie said: "We have had recent legal opinion that indicates that P&O Ferries along with each vessel’s Captain are believed to be in breach of Section 20 of The Welfare of Animals (Transport) Order 1997.

"We would ask all our supporters to join us at any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The recent television programme broadcast in Scotland can only go to highlight the real issues behind our campaign.

"Please remember the unnecessary suffering to not only the puppies but also their poor mothers who are often kept in miserable conditions."
