New President for Blackpool

Mr Jack Bennett has succeeded Vince Hogan as President of Blackpool Championship Show following the Society’s’ AGM last Friday in Bamber Bridge, nr Preston.

Mr Hogan retired after an unprecedented 6-year stint (two terms of office) during which the society underwent many changes both in terms of personnel and showground. Chairman Hilda Parkinson thanked Mr Hogan in her report for all his hard work over the period and Mr Bennett added that Vince had been the Society’s’ longest serving President.

Mr Hogan commented that whereas it had been a difficult period in many ways he had been pleased to serve the society and wished it well in the future, safe in the knowledge that it had a very strong financial basis on which to build. He wished Mr Bennett every success in his new position.

Mr Bennett had of course recently relinquished the secretarial reins after a long career in that position, which is now occupied by Mr Steve Hall. Mr Hall said that there were plans to develop the ground in the future and that the financial strength would help cover any additional costs.
