A TEAM of rescue dogs, all re-homed from the Blue Cross adoption centre in Kimpton Bottom, Hertford-shire, will be making their debut appearance at Discover Dogs in Earls Court, London, on 13 and 14 November.
After stealing the show at Crufts and the Wag & Bone Show, the Rescue Dog Agility Team, made up from rescue dogs from The Blue Cross, Battersea Dogs’ Home, Dogs’ Trust, RSPCA and Wood Green Animal Shelter, are joining together to present an agility event that will aim to promote rescue dogs and show that they can rival any pedigree pet when it comes to enthusiasm and personality in the ring.
The Blue Cross team from Hertfordshire includes Skip, a five-year-old terrier-cross that was handed into the centre when only 12-weeks-old; Rusty, a seven-year-old Miniature Poodle that came to the Blue Cross after a family bereavement; Gypsy, a six-year-old collie/GSD cross that was born at the centre; Oscar, a six-year-old Lurcher who was taken into the Blue Cross after he was found in an abandoned car; and Bobby, a three-year-old collie cross who was handed over to the Blue Cross when his owners felt they could no longer cope with his boisterous behaviour.
The participating charities hope that performance of of the dogs will encourage people to consider giving a rescue dog another lease of life.
The display takes place in the main ring at 11.30 am and 3.50 pm on Saturday and mid-day on the Sunday.
