It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of our beloved Dexter (Sh Ch Boduf Pistols at Dawn with Afterglow) at the age of nine and a half years.
He was that extremely rare thing, a universally popular top winning dog. In a meteorically successful show career spanning just more than 2 years, he received glowing critiques from every judge he met, without a single adverse word. He achieved the titles of Pup of The Year 1996, RBIS Crufts and Top Dog All Breeds 1997. His retirement show was Crufts 1998, with a Gr 2. He was not then 3 years old.
An impulse purchase at 3 months old, we drove home with this wonderful pup barely able to contain our excitement. He lived up to his early promise, never disappointing, always giving 200%. His joie de vivre in and out of the ring made him a pleasure to own and to watch. He gave us some wonderful litters, with Champions in the UK, USA, Eire and Scandinavia.
Sadly, just a short space of time into his retirement he suffered a severe spinal problem, resulting in major surgery with a very poor prognosis for recovery. With his usual indomitable spirit Dexter confounded the experts and was up and walking within an incredibly short space of time. He lived out the remaining years of his retirement with undiminished sparkle and playfulness. Words cannot say how much he will be missed. Tributes to him have been coming in from around the world, for which we are so grateful.
