English Springer Spaniel CC breed record

At WKC, the liver and white English Springer Sh Ch Wadeson Inspector Wexford, bred and owned by Kay Woodward, took the breed record by winning his 56th CC. As usual, husband Colin, handled him. ‘Sinbad’ took the dog CC record of his ancestor Sh Ch Hawkhill Connaught at Southern Counties this year by winning his 51th CC, and has won six CCs out of seven outings since. The previous breed record holder (55 CCs) was the tri bitch bred and owned by Frances Jackson Ch Mompesson Remember Me, a great, great, great granddaughter of Frances’s foundation bitch Sh Ch Hawkhill Derby Daydream, who was in turn a elder sister of Connaught.

The new record holder ‘Sinbad’ was born on 1 September 1995 by Sh Ch Speeton Seafarer ex Wadeson Ruth Rendell, who goes back to Kay and Colin’s first title-holder – Sh Ch Barlochan Engineer. He won his first CC under Dawn Swales at the ESSC of Wales championship show at 13 months, and with it BIS, closely followed by his second (handled by Kay, who always prepares him). Jenny Miller gave him his title at Crufts the following year. In addition to his 56 CCs, he has won BOB 45 times, several Group places – the latest National Gundog Association G4 and Bournemouth G3, six Groups, two reserve BIS at general Championship shows, and BIS at Leeds and Bournemouth in 1997.

Apologies for these minor errors.
