‘Lots’ to attract at Charity Auction of Canine Collectables

Collectors and enthusiasts of all things ‘canine’ should find plenty to interest them at the Charity Auction of Canine Collectables, whatever their favourite breeds. Over 140 items pertaining to a wide variety of dogs have been donated, and all proceeds from the Auction will go to the Registered Charity, Greyhound Rescue West of England.

Lord Faringdon has kindly given the Charity his permission for the Auction to be held at Buscot Park on Sunday April 17th. This beautiful property is about 10 miles north of Swindon, on the A417 between Faringdon and Lechlade. Viewing is from 11 am and the Auction starts at 1pm.

David Paton (well known professional photographer), will be swapping his camera for a gavel, to be Auctioneer for the day. His wide experience of dog shows and canine events has prepared him well for this role.

The illustrated Auction Catalogue is available now, please phone 01278 722519. If you can’t get to the Auction there are facilities for pre-Auction bids to be made by post or email, stating the highest bid you are prepared to make. Full details and additional donated items appear on the GRWE Charity’s website www.grwe.co.uk

If you are thinking of having your dog’s picture painted, you can bid for a commissioned portrait by one of several famous and talented artists such as Melanie Shepherd, Cat Sutherland, Sue Todd, Terri Sorensen and Vivien Walters, who have examples of their work shown in the catalogue.

The Auction will be a unique opportunity to acquire original works of art, executed and donated especially for the Charity event. An exquisite carving in walnut of a greyhound head by Laurence Tindall; a distinctive coloured pen and ink canine cartoon by Andy Hammond; a delightful clay model by Esther Deans; two delicate cross stitch embroideries hand sewn by Jim Godfrey and Joan Lee, are just some of these precious items.

Canine models, stamps and cigarette cards; Limited Edition prints and books; cherished pieces of memorabilia and famous Calendars (the WI one signed by Annette Crosbie, and the Afghan Hound Rescue 2005 signed by all the Lads!) are on offer for you to add to your own collections.

The Charity would like to thank everyone who has helped to make this Auction such an exciting and important fund raising event. The proceeds of the Auction will enable the work of Greyhound Rescue to continue and benefit even more dogs.
