Mrs Eileen M Bridges
Mrs Betty Cuddy
Betty Cuddy died in hospital in the early hours of Easter Saturday. She had become ill just after Christmas, but due to her bravery no one really knew the extent of her illness until very recently.
She was always a fighter and surprised the doctors time and time again by rallying after they had thought all was hopeless.
Many Beardie owners will know her name. For many years Betty was Membership Secretary of the Bearded Collie Club, she also ran the club puppy list for a much longer period - tirelessly answering the phone at all hours of the day, giving advice and putting members with puppies and potential puppy buyers together. She was also an intrinsic part of the Dearbolt Beardies and awarded CCs in the breed.
For 10 years she was also a part of the team on Dogs Today magazine - answering readers' letters with hand written personal replies that were much appreciated.
She follows husband Don who sadly died six years ago, again very quickly from cancer. For many years she was on the committees of local societies such as Liverpool Kennel Association and Maghull and Merseyside. In recent years she moved to Berkshire to be nearer to me (her daughter) and her grandchild Kieran.
Betty also has a son, Neil, and two more grandsons Richard and William, who all live in Canada. Neil flew over for Betty's last week and she was delighted to see him despite her illness.
Betty was a great character and a very supportive, brilliant Mum. She will be very sadly missed by all that knew her.
The funeral will take place on Thursday April 9th 1.30pm at East Hampstead Park Crematorium South Rd Nine Mile Ride Wokingham RG40 3DW.
