Dogs escape crash unhurt

Eleven dogs have escaped injury after the car they were travelling in crashed into a barrier on a Cumbrian road. The Ford Escort came off the road and crashed into the barrier on Dalton Lane, Barrow, last Thursday night.

A police spokesperson said a 41-year-old Dorset man fled the scene. He was later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The dogs, including two puppies, were taken to the home of a woman who was also in the car. Police inquiries are continuing.
