£400 million set to be lavished on dogs by their owners this Christmas. Halifax Pet Insurance reveals that almost half a million pet owners are set to spend more than £100 each on pet presents.

Another 67,164 pet owners are planning to spend over £1,000 on their four-legged friends. And while these fortunate felines and doted-on dogs receive the most expensive gifts, the Halifax research finds that the average UK pet is set to receive gifts worth £35 this Christmas.
