Alleged puppy farmer wins revoke appeal

Campaigners were "appalled and disgusted" when a sheriff’s court upheld his appeal over a local authority’s decision to revoke his licence.

Stephen Hamilton won his case against East Ayrshire Council over their refusal to issue Hamilton a licence based on his suitability as an individual to hold a licence.

Kilmarnock Sheriff’s Court upheld his appeal, largely on the basis of lack of evidence by the Council, which campaigners blame on their lack of suitable evidence gathering and their refusal to accept advice from a leading anti-puppy farm campaign group to help them gather such evidence.

The court awarded expenses in Hamilton’s favour, totalling £6,000.
